Fresh Light

We're in the process of replacing all the windows (14) in our home - not an easy task. I'm pretty sure Abe is up to the challenge, though. It makes a huge difference in every room - so much more light and so much less noise. Of course, we sleep with them all open anyway...

I can't wait until we're finished with this big project. The house is never clean because of all of the dust. Of course, once this task is complete, there will just be another one. It is fun to see our little house coming along and into this century. It will feel like a brand new house when we're finished.

Now this is family

Just spent the morning at the pool with a handful of moms, a couple of handfuls of kids, and some gorgeous mountain scenery. It doesn't get any better than that. This was my first experience and I quickly realized I had a lot to learn. Each mom was ready for an entire day of fun complete with picnic baskets, toys, and floats for the little ones. We had only brought a couple of snacks and a towel.

As I watched all the children quickly becoming friends, I thought to myself "now this is family". Days like these are the reason I want to stay home with my daughter while I can. When talking about playing with our kids, one mom commented "Isn't that why we have kids?" I admit, I get bored just doing the kid things sometimes, but that's what parenting is all about.

I'm now determined to cherish these everyday adventures even more. Cliche I know, but I want to find joy in the simple things in life.
